Kruger is a major pulp and paper company engaged in the manufacturing and sale of newsprint, specialty grades, lightweight coated paper, directory paper, tissue, recycled linerboard, corrugated containers, lumber and wood products. Kruger Products, a member of the Kruger Company, is the leading tissue manufacturer in Canada. Kruger Products serves the Canadian consumer market with such well-known brands as Cashmere, Scotties, SpongeTowels, and Purex, as well as away from home products for industrial and commercial use across Canada. The Kruger company has operations in Québec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador, the United States, United Kingdom and employs over 10,000 people.
Kruger's Forest and Wood Products Group is a leader in technology and environmental performance in the forest and in its mills. It’s environmental and forest policies are designed to ensure the responsible management and sustainable development of the forest resource. Energy conservation and the protection of resources are cornerstones of the company's harvesting and manufacturing operations. The company ensures the cleanliness of effluents and air emissions from its mills and applies recycling and energy saving measures at each of its facilities.
Kruger manages four million hectares (approximately 10 million acres) of land in Quebec; and its subsidiary, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited, manages 2 million hectares (approximately 5 million acres) on the island of Newfoundland. Joseph Kruger founded Kruger in 1904 by establishing a fine paper business in Montreal. The business was incorporated as the Kruger Paper Co. Limited in 1921 and was granted Federal charter. Today Kruger Inc. is based in Montreal and employs over 10,000 people in Canada and other countries. Joseph Kruger II, grandson of the founder, is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, and the third generation of his family to lead the business.
